When we are children everything is new and our whole existence is based on exploration and play. We aren’t born with a concept of time, money or work. These things are taught to us when we become “adulterated”.
For many, the world becomes smaller the bigger we get. Our comfort zone shrinks as we become self-conscious and start to worry about the opinions of others. We can become slaves to our seriousness and fears. The only two fears we are born with are a fear of falling and loud noises, every other fear we are taught. Our fear and self-consciousness causes us to contract and become more insulated in our experience.
Life doesn’t have to be so serious. Come back to your child-like nature. Yoga helps us find our natural state. When we peel away the layers of conditioning from our body and mind, we can release past contractions and allow for expansion and openness in the moment. The way to practice this is to just relax and enjoy each moment with curiousness, wonder and humor. There is magic all around us, we just have to open up to it. Encourage your inner-child to come out and play…life is so much more enjoyable when we don’t take it so seriously.
